Surgery
Lumbar Discectomy
This operation is to remove protruding disc and decompress lumbar nerves thus relieving sciatica.
Simple Lumbar Fusion
This is the commonest fusion I do - it's as simple as possible but not too simple.
Complex fusion with pedicle screws
Pedicle screws give secure fixation in the spine and give added stability while awaiting fusion.
Far lateral discectomy and decompression
Sometimes discs prolapse out to the side rather than backwards - this requires a different approach
Coccygectomy
The coccyx, our residual tail, can be painful after a fall, requiring removal.
